While many factors contribute to this problem, the one thing that shouldn’t be standing in the way is the legal industry itself. The Task Force on Access Through Innovation of Legal Services (ATILS) is reviewing existing regulatory frameworks, such as ethics rules regarding the unauthorized practice of law and the sharing of legal fees, as well as exploring the opportunities afforded by new technologies to see what changes could be made to provide higher quality and more accessible legal services to millions of underserved Americans.
