Michael Downey is a legal ethics lawyer at and founding member of Downey Law Group LLC, a law firm devoted to legal ethics and the law of lawyering. At the firm, Michael focuses his law practice on advising lawyers on legal ethics and risk management and represents lawyers and clients in legal malpractice, lawyer discipline, and similar matters. An adjunct professor at Washington University School of Law, he has taught legal ethics for 10 years and law firm practice for 5 years. Downey is the immediate past chair of the ABA Law Practice Division. Additionally, he authored the book “Introduction to Law Firm Practice” and has published 100 articles and presented 350 times on professional ethics.
