Dawn Post

Dawn Post is a litigator, counselor, instructor, and mediator with more than 20 years in practice focusing on the legal system’s intersection with the rights and wellbeing of children, including child custody issues, guardianship and adoption, grandparent and sibling visitation, and the child protection system.

She has also published numerous articles with a child-centric perspective on the effective representation of children, as well as how race and socio-economic factors impact decision making, the effects of high conflict custody and visitation, trafficking, and the use of chemical and physical restraints.

Post is a frequent speaker and brings a child-focused attitude to every engagement as a litigator, child welfare expert and reformer, teacher, and author. As a consultant, she helps agencies develop and effectuate a plan for systemic improvement through her own experience successfully raising awareness and addressing issues related to youth voice.

She is the founder of Themis Youth Law & Advocacy and the former co-director for the Children’s Law Center in the borough of Brooklyn. She earned her JD at the Mitchell Hamline School of law.
