Bruce Lisker

Bruce Lisker

Bruce Lisker is a survivor of wrongful conviction, photographer, writer, speaker, and creative advocate for justice. In 1983, at just 17 years old, Bruce discovered his mother brutally attacked in their Los Angeles home. Though innocent, he was wrongfully convicted of her murder and sentenced to life in prison. He spent 26 years behind bars before investigative reporting, fresh legal scrutiny, and the unraveling of false evidence finally led to his release in 2009.

Since regaining his freedom, Bruce has devoted himself to reclaiming life and giving voice to the wrongly imprisoned. He speaks across the country about systemic injustice, trauma, resilience, and hope, weaving his personal story into broader conversations about truth and reform. His photography project, Through Innocent Eyes, captures the world with the sharpened awareness of someone who lost half a lifetime to confinement.

Today, Bruce continues to build a life rooted in creativity, family, and advocacy. Through public talks, writing, and art, he channels decades of loss into a call for awareness and change — showing that even out of injustice, purpose and meaning can emerge.
