Anne Blume practices in the areas of professional liability and insurance coverage. In her more than 25 years of representing architects, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical engineers, lawyers, and land surveyors, Anne has gained vast experience and a reputation for her pragmatic approach to efficiently resolving disputes including breach of contract, delay and acceleration, property damage, personal injury, fee disputes, mechanics’ liens, negligent misrepresentation, design defects, construction defects, and construction management. These claims have involved conventional commercial and residential structures, as well as roads, bridges, traffic engineering, power plants and water treatment facilities. In connection with her insurance coverage practice, Anne has successfully represented major insurers on a wide range of issues and policies including errors and omissions, directors and officers, property and general liability insurance policies. She has litigated and arbitrated coverage and bad faith disputes in various jurisdictions. A frequent lecturer, Anne speaks on professional liability topics such as contract language and negotiating, risk management, construction project documentation, and other best practices topics. Anne was recognized on the 2013 “Women Making an Impact” list by The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, honoring 17 Chicago women attorneys who are making the greatest impact on the legal profession in Illinois. She is also recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” in Illinois. Anne has been the director of education for the annual conference since 2009 and served as one of the original developers of the CLM Claims College launched in 2013, including development and presentation of courses on “Litigation Management and Control,” “Selecting and Working with Experts” and “Independent Counsel – Knowing When and How to Work With Them.” Anne earned her law degree from The John Marshall Law School in 1991 and earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1985.
