Kerri Ruttenberg is a first-chair trial lawyer focusing on white collar criminal defense, civil fraud actions, and the False Claims Act. With nearly 20 years of trial experience, she has represented clients in federal and state cases across the country. Kerri successfully first-chaired two FCA jury trials involving multiple issues of first impression, winning significant victories at trial and in post-trial litigation. Recently, she successfully defended clients against the FTC in two separate antitrust merger challenges as part of the in-court trial team. She serves as the head of litigation for the Firm’s Washington Office.
Before joining Jones Day, Kerri represented a former AOL executive charged with accounting fraud and other crimes by the DOJ and the SEC. She co-chaired a four-month criminal trial in the Eastern District of Virginia, and the jury acquitted on all charges. One year later, after a seven-week trial in the U.S. District Court for District of Columbia, the civil jury issued the same positive result.
Kerri has successfully first-chaired trials of clients accused of a range of criminal offenses. Following a two-week jury trial in New York, she won a full acquittal of all 12 alleged violent offenses. In another matter, a D.C. jury acquitted her client of all 14 charges, including first-degree murder, felony murder, and armed robbery, also following a two-week trial.
Kerri is the author of the highly regarded book Images with Impact: Design and Use of Winning Trial Visuals. She frequently conducts CLE programs on effective design and use of visuals for trials and other professional presentations.
