Regulation of the Paralegal Profession – NFPA Says “Yes”

On this edition of The Paralegal Voice, co-hosts Lynne DeVenny and Vicki Voisin welcome National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) leaders,  Georgette Lovelace, RP and Tracey L. Young, RP. They talk about the benefits NFPA provides to its members, NFPA’s position on regulation of the paralegal profession and its upcoming convention. These experienced paralegals also offer advice to listeners considering a paralegal career.

Special thanks to our sponsors, Teris, Westlaw Deposition Services, and the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).

    Vicki and Lynne–
I had a chance this morning to catch your “Regulation of Paralegals” podcast. It was very interesting listening to Georgette and Tracey about what NFPA is doing. While the national paralegal associations are different in certain respects, I feel that paralegals are all in this together and we can learn from each other.
I also enjoyed hearing about the “Percolating Paralegal,” Lynne, and I can’t wait to see your cartoons! You know, I’ve never gotten into using Twitter, but I see how it could really be helpful–I may have to dip my feet in the Tweets!
Vicki–I’ll be taking your Ethics class tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it!
Thanks again for making your podcasts available!

Has the ABA yet defined the Practice of Law or the Giving of Legal Advice? How is NFPA assisting (or not assisting) the LDA profession? What are its views on LDAs?
