The misuse of prescription pain relievers, heroin, fentanyl, and other synthetic opioids has affected numerous facets of American society, including public wellness and the economy. In order to address this issue, the ABA is holding an Opioid Summit on May 4 in Chicago. In this report from On The Road at the 2018 ABA Midyear Meeting, host Jim Calloway talks to Jack Young about why the summit is important and how it will help lawyers deal with the crisis both professionally and personally. He also addresses what makes this particular crisis different from other societal issues including the punishment of people who suffer from addiction.
Jack Young is the current chair of the American Bar Association Senior Lawyer Division.
