Jonathan Amarillo: Hello everyone and welcome to CBA’s @theBar. I’m your host Jon Amarillo of Taff Law and this month marks the five-year anniversary of this podcast. Five years of bringing you interesting and unscripted conversations about legal news, events, topics, stories and whatever else strikes our fancy. It’s been a journey. I wanted to take a moment to celebrate this milestone for our show and to thank you our listeners who’ve grown with us and made this show the success that it is with an audience that extends far beyond Chicago, far beyond Illinois and even extending overseas. We especially want to thank the superlative team at the Legal Talk network. They’ve shepherded us along this journey and helped us to produce a top-quality show of which we’re very proud. Chicago is home to one of the most talented and diverse legal communities. It’s a town with a uniquely storied legal history and we’ve been honored to showcase some of those stories among others on the show. Back in 2017 when the show was a mere idea and when Jen and I were modeling our way through some of the most basic things like figuring out which microphones to use, I really had no idea what this podcast would become. I had no idea that we’d be able to attract such an incredible array of guests. I had no idea that we’d amass a loyal and valued listenership. In a marketplace already flooded with podcast, I had no idea that we’d have any hope of being in the top 2% of podcast nationwide. And yet, here we are five years later. Thanks in large part to you. We are not slowing down either. We are taking a short break from new programming this month to celebrate our five-year anniversary and to do our day jobs, practicing law, but we’ll be back next month with more exciting content and in the meantime, we encourage you to delve into our back catalogue the past episodes including our interviews with Amanda Knox and her Italian defense team, our behind the scenes look at the Jussie Smollett case with prosecutor Dan Webb, a recent interview with Gretchen Carlson and former Congresswoman Cheri Bustos and our most popular episode to date, a discussion with Bill Kunkle about his prosecution of one of the most feared serial killers in American history, John Wayne Gacy, the Killer Clown. Earlier this month, we partnered with the Legal Talk Network to host a live continuing legal education event at the Chicago Bar Association called Building Your Brand, How to Stand Out with Legal Podcasting, featuring some of your favorite Legal Talk Network hosts including our very own Trish Rich. You can check out the recording on the CBA’s website at learn.chicagobar.org. But before we’re back next month, we want to hear from you. In honor of our five-year anniversary, we are asking you to go on Apple podcast and give us a five star rating. The ratings and reviews really help us get the word out and grow our audience even more. If it’s any incentive, Jen has the idea of taking some time out of the next episode to give a shout out to our five-star reviewers and to read some of the reviews online so be sure to use polite language please. You can also follow us and leave us comments, questions, episode ideas or just troll us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter at CBA @theBar, all one word and email us at [email protected]. Until next time for everyone here at the CBA. Thank you for joining us these last five years. We look forward to the next five and we’ll you soon @theBar.
