Vedia Jones-Richardson

Vedia Jones-Richardson is a Principal with Olive and Olive, PA, where she leads the trademark and copyright practice group. She received her J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center, is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Illinois and North Carolina and has been certified as a Trademark Specialist by the North Carolina State Bar. She also is a member of the adjunct faculty at North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she supervises the Trademark Legal Clinic. Counseling clients in the protection, acquisition and management of intellectual property rights, her practice includes trademark, copyright, computer technology, marketing and promotions, entertainment and arts law. With a BFA in graphic design, experience in the television and advertising industries, and nearly three decades of legal experience, she brings a business orientation and creative perspective to her practice. Vedia has served in various leadership positions in law, technology and the arts. In the American Bar Association, she chaired the Law Practice Division and the YLD Computer Law Committee, and served on numerous other committees and commissions. In the North Carolina Bar Association, she served two terms as chair of the Local Bar Services Committee, producing the Bar Leadership Institute; and she served two terms as President of the Durham/Orange chapter of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. She is a fellow in the College of Law Practice Management and a founding board member of InternetBar.org. With a lifelong love of the arts, Vedia has served as President of the Durham Arts Council and as Vice President of the Durham Cultural Master Plan Advisory Board, the Durham Library Foundation and the Kenan Institute for the Arts and currently serves on the board of NC ArtWorks and the Southern Documentary Fund.
