Tom is co-leader of Vinson & Elkins’ Appellate Practice Group. He has a wide range of experience in state and federal appeals and trials in courts across the nation. His experience includes commercial, tort, intellectual property, and health care litigation, as well as class actions. Tom is also head of the firm’s Media & Entertainment Group and represents publishers and broadcasters in all types of media litigation.
Tom attended Yale for both law school and college. He frequently speaks and writes on appellate, media, privacy, and First Amendment topics and is active with the Media Law Resource Center, PLI’s annual Communications Law in the Digital Age conference, and the ABA Forum Committee on Communications Law. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and serves as a council member of the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section.
