Shawn Hoover is a trial attorney with the Capital Defender Office in Georgia. He was previously the Southwest Georgia Conflict Defender for the Georgia Public Defender Council. Shawn started his career as an Assistant Public Defender in Douglas County, Ga.
Shawn earned his BA in Political Science and a Minor in Philosophy from Webster University. Shawn earned his Juris Doctorate and Certificate of Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Shawn is a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honors Fraternity; a 2017 Phi Kappa Delta Order of Attainment Inductee; a 2017 American Bar Foundation Fellow Inductee; a 2019 recipient of the Gideon’s Promise Foot Soldier Award and a 2018 recipient of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Presidential Commitment Award. Shawn has served on the Georgia State Bar Indigent Defense Committee as a presidential appointment, as well as the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Indigent Defense Committee.
Shawn’s interests include working out, riding his motorcycle cycle and coaching high school mock trial teams.
