Rod Ponton has had a distinguished 39-year legal career representing individuals, companies, cities, counties, and government agencies in a variety of matters. He is currently serving his third term as Presidio County Attorney and formerly served as the elected 83rd District Attorney (Brewster, Jeff Davis, Pecos, and Presidio counties). Ponton has an active civil practice focused on real estate matters, contracts, title, closings; civil litigation, including insurance defense and government entity tort liability; family law, including child custody; and probate matters. He has a strong background in government law. Ponton is the city attorney for the cities of Presidio, Balmorhea, and Pecos, as well as the Presidio Municipal Development District, Presidio International Port Authority, Alpine Housing Authority, and others, including Brewster County. Ponton has successfully defended and tried cases in state and federal courts throughout West Texas. He has appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court; the 5th, 9th, and 10th Circuits; and numerous appellate courts in Texas. Ponton represents individuals, cities, counties, port authorities, political subdivisions, and corporations.
