Phil Alvarez joined the Hansen & Rosasco, LLP team in September of 2019 as the Director of 9/11 Outreach and Education. Phil is the brother of the late Luis Alvarez, after whom the law, “Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act,” was named. Before passage of the law in July of 2019, Phil made numerous trips with his brother Luis to Washington, D.C. to lobby for the permanent authorization. After more than 60 chemotherapy treatments and near the end of his life, Luis’ emotional appeal in testimony before Congress helped convince Washington to “do the right thing” and “Never Forget the Heroes.”
Prior to joining Hansen & Rosasco, LLP, Phil served 32 years in the Suffolk County Police Department, 25 of which as a detective.
