Before joining Jefferson Consulting Group as Chief Operating Officer, Ms. DeRenzi spent 29 years in the Navy, attaining the rank of Vice Admiral. She retired from the Navy in 2015. Her last assignment was as the Judge Advocate General of the Navy, a position she held for three years. As Judge Advocate General, she managed and led a global law firm of 2,300 military and civilian attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants. Her responsibilities ranged from recruitment of top legal talent, to the management, training, and retention of that talent. Among her management accomplishments were a realignment of the Navy’s global legal structure and a centralization of administrative functions to maximize resources and minimize overhead. She developed flex-time, telecommuting, and virtual workplace programs, which enhanced the ability to attract and retain a high-performing diverse workforce.
Earlier in her career, she served as Commander of the Naval Legal Service Command, where she led 17 offices worldwide that provided legal services to the Navy, Sailors, and families. She also managed and equipped the Naval Justice School to successfully meet its responsibility to train all Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard legal personnel and provide legal training to the Navy.
During her Navy career, Ms. DeRenzi advised senior military, congressional, and civilian leaders on a variety of complex and sensitive legal and policy issues, including crisis response and major investigations, regulatory compliance, ethics, sexual assault prevention and response, diversity and gender integration, inter-agency relations, and private-public cooperation. She is experienced in administrative law, environmental law, operational and international law, cyber and intelligence law, and criminal law.
Ms. DeRenzi holds a master of laws degree in environmental law from George Washington University Law School, a law degree from Temple University School of Law, and an undergraduate degree from Villanova University. She is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
