Michael G. Heavican is the chief justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court. He was appointed to the court by Gov. Dave Heineman and assumed office as the court’s presiding justice Oct. 2, 2006. He previously was the U.S. attorney for the District of Nebraska from 2001 until his 2006 appointment to the Nebraska Supreme Court.
