Laureen Kapin is Counsel for International Consumer Protection at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, in their Office of International Affairs. Her responsibilities include working with international consumer protection and law enforcement counterparts to battle cross-border fraud and deception. She also works with FTC attorneys when their litigation involves international targets, evidence or assets. In addition, she advocate for consumer protection safeguards related to the rapidly expanding generic top-level domains that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is making available to the public. She works with the USG delegation to ICANN’s Government Advisory Committee and its Public Safety Working Group to advise ICANN on these important consumer protection concerns.
