In February 2006, Dennis Tomasik, Kim’s husband, was accused of sexually assaulting a boy in Comstock Park, a community just north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He spent 11 years in prison before Lansing defense attorneys decided to handle Tomasik’s appeal. With the help of 22 new witnesses, a rock-solid alibi, and the persistence of Kim, Dennis was acquitted and his case listed on the National Registry of Exonerations. Those involved say it was the perseverance of Kim that made the difference in the case.
