Kendyl T. Hanks is an experienced appellate advocate, licensed in Texas and New York, who represents clients throughout the country in state and federal courts. Hanks litigates high-stakes business litigation and test cases involving contract disputes, fraud, fiduciary duty, alter ego, constitutional law, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, negligence and estoppel, oil and gas and real estate disputes, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, trade secrets, joint and several liability and proportionate fault, sovereign immunity, Anti-SLAPP, and other issues of importance to her clients. She has been recognized by her peers as a top appellate lawyer in Texas and one of the top 50 lawyers in Central Texas. She has argued appeals throughout the state—including at the Texas Supreme Court—and also in New York, California, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Outside the courtroom, Kendyl spends time advocating for women lawyers (she is a co-founder of the popular Twitter group @LadyLawyerDiary), speaking to law students about diversity and appellate practice, and fly fishing with her family. She recently joined the Board of Trustees for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a national organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of disabled military personnel and veterans through fly fishing.
Kendyl Hanks and Kristen Vander-Plas, two of the cofounders of @LadyLawyerDiary, discuss how their Twitter account has become a forum for women in the legal industry.
