Joyce White Vance is a Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Law at the University of Alabama School of Law. She is also a frequent contributor for NBC and MSNBC and writes on topics of legal interest for the Washington Post, MSNBC Daily and Time Magazine. Vance is a co-host of the hit new podcast #SistersInLaw.
Vance was the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from August 2009 through January 2017. She was appointed by President Obama and unanimously confirmed by the Senate. Previously, she served in the U.S. Attorney’s office since 1991 as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal and Appellate Divisions, and later as it’s senior litigation counsel and Appellate Chief.
