Joseph Rava is a shareholder in the Casualty Department, where his significant experiences in the insurance industry allow him to focus his practice on a wide array of casualty claims and suits brought against his clients.
Prior to joining Marshall Dennehey, Joseph served as regional house counsel for Harleysville/Nationwide Insurance, where he was a member of the general counsel team charged with the delivery of quality representation to their insured clients. He was also responsible for the recruitment and development of other staff attorneys, particularly focusing on the defense of claims in New York Labor Law matters.
Throughout his career, Joseph has been involved in the insurance industry. He has been a named partner in a New York-based insurance defense firm, where he represented and defended clients in product liability, automotive liability, New York Labor Law and commercial general liability matters. Joseph has also partnered with other attorneys in a practice that focused on professional malpractice, construction site actions, insurance coverage disputes and reinsurance arbitrations. He has appeared before both the New York state and federal courts.
As a college undergraduate, Joseph served as an agent for a regional insurance agency and then went onto to co-found an insurance agency specializing in the sale of automobile insurance. He then earned his bachelors degree in History from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. In 1989, Joseph earned his juris doctor from the George Washington University Law School. Joseph is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.
