Joanna Mendoza is a Trustee for the California State Bar representing the Third District (23 northeastern-most counties of the State), an unpaid elected position on a regulatory body for the State of California. Her first term began in October 2013. She was re-elected to a second 3-year term for the period October 2016 – October 2019.
As a result of the significant time commitment involved with her position on the California State Bar Board of Trustees, Joanna Mendoza has been winding down her practice since 2013. While she remains an active, licensed attorney in California, she is not currently taking on any new clients.
When practicing, Joanna Mendoza specialized in intellectual property litigation and other forms of complex business litigation in federal and state courts. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil jury trials over the years, and her practice included appellate and writ practice in the courts of appeal.
More specifically, Ms. Mendoza’s practice included litigation and transactional matters relating to: copyright, trademark and patent disputes; trade secret misappropriation; copyright and trademark registration; Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings; WIPO/ICANN domain name dispute resolution proceedings; Independent Film and Television Alliance (IFTA) arbitration; licensing and other technology transfer instruments; film and television production transactions; entity formation; general business transactions and matters related to entertainment law transactions.
