After she passed the bar in 1997, Jenifer Kaufman worked for a solo plaintiff’s attorney representing Philadelphians in personal injury, criminal, family and workers’ compensation matters. The experience helped her realize Workers’ Compensation was her destiny, and she’s been a “comp lifer” since.
Starting in 2000, Kaufman was employed by several Workers’ Compensation law firms, representing both employers and injured workers. During those years, she was a hard-working advocate, but also an employee, like her clients. She worked for employers with more power and money than she had. She knows what it’s like when an employer lets an employee down or is not completely fair.
Kaufman opened her own firm in 2018 to provide injured workers with a better Workers’ Compensation experience than large firms can offer. She works hard to empower injured workers to make the best and most informed decisions for themselves and to make the choices that make the most sense for them, while explaining the pros and cons of those decisions.
Kaufman is one of a small group of attorneys certified as a Workers’ Compensation specialist. She has been certified since 2013, the first year the certification was available, and was re-certified in 2018. In addition to membership in area bar associations, she has been a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Marijuana & Hemp Law Committee since its inception, and she is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans’ benefits attorney. She earned her bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
