I am responsible for shaping and stewarding a statewide culture of pro bono among all lawyers practicing in Texas, both in-state and out-of-state licensed attorneys. I am responsible for cultivating partnerships to increase pro bono engagement throughout Texas to reduce the justice gap and for engaging lawyers in pro bono to grow the more than $500,000 of in-kind pro bono contributions brought over the first year through my efforts. My engagement activities include statewide outreach, events, and increasing volunteer engagement according to the vision and needs of the State Bar of Texas and its partners. For example: Coordinating multiple law firms to engage in pro bono programs. I am responsible for ensuring that the public receive timely direct legal advice services protecting them from additional harm and further crisis. I deployed thousands of in-state and out-of-state lawyers to legal services organization across the state following a disaster. In coordination with other staff, I am responsible for building influential communication tools to support development activities and shape overall pro bono culture statewide.
