Claire Muselman

Claire C. Muselman, Ed. D, is an assistant professor of practice in leadership, human resources, and organizational behavior at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in the Zimpleman College of Business where she is co-director of the leadership development master of science program. With nearly two decades in the insurance industry, she’s become a transformative force in the Workers’ Compensation and risk management fields, pioneering initiatives such as the Workers’ Recovery Unit and the Workers’ Compensation Center of Excellence. Her influence extends to co-hosting the podcast ADJUSTED, a claims podcast, as well as creating content for various media outlets including WorkCompCentral, the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI), and WorkersCompensation.com.

At Drake, Muselman’s focus on empathetic, emotionally intelligent leadership, wellbeing, and growth, reflects her commitment to educating future leaders. Her additional role as dean of Workers’ Compensation for the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance’s Claims College highlights her impact on the educational landscape.

Beyond academia, Muselman advocates for inclusivity, diversity, and community service through her work with Broadlawns Medical Center and as an advisory board member for the paramedics program at Des Moines Area Community College. Her dedication and insights continue to shape the industry and inspire those striving for positive impact.

Muselman earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Iowa, her master’s degree and educational specialist degree at Drake University, and her doctoral degree at Grand Canyon University.
