Aylysh B. Gallagher is an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office in Lansing, MI, where she specializes in felony cases involving intimate partner violence. Ms. Gallagher was instrumental in establishing the county’s first Domestic Violence Unit. In this role, she focuses on cases that have increased lethality factors, severe injury, victimless/recanting prosecutions, and serial offenders. Ms. Gallagher works closely with law enforcement, advocates, and service providers to improve the community response to domestic violence and sexual assault. In doing so, she trains local law enforcement agencies, advocates, and attorneys on the dynamics of domestic violence, evidence-based prosecution, and offender accountability.
Ms. Gallagher serves on the Board of Directors for the Ingham County Bar Association – Young Lawyers Section and the Women Lawyers Association of Mid-Michigan.
Ms. Gallagher obtained her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, graduated top of her class as a Magna Cum Laude and received eight certificate of merit awards. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Michigan State University and graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the Honors College. She is licensed to practice law in Michigan and Illinois.
