Amani Smathers currently works as a legal solutions architect at Davis Wright Tremaine – De Novo, where she helps design and implement legal and business solutions for the firm and its clients. As a legal technologist and licensed attorney, she operates in a unique space. Since being an early participant in the ReInvent Law program at MSU Law, she has become part of an international network of professionals interested in improving use of technology and innovation in the legal industry. She received her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law, class of 2013, where she was top 10 in her class. Her legal coursework included e-discovery, quantitative methods for lawyers, legal information engineering and technology, virtual law practice, cyberlaw, trademarks, and clinical work with small businesses and non-profits. Before Michigan State, she earned her B.A. in Economics & Political Science from Tufts University in 2010.
