Justice Debra Lehrmann is the Senior Justice on the Supreme Court of Texas, holding the record as the longest-serving female Justice in the state’s history. She boasts nearly 35 years of judicial experience, beginning as a trial judge in Tarrant County for 23 years before transitioning to appellate service. Justice Lehrmann has played leadership roles at both state and national levels within the legal profession.
Her notable accomplishments include serving as the inaugural chair of the State Bar of Texas Child Protection Law Section and chairing the Family Law Section of the ABA. She is actively involved as a commissioner on the Uniform Law Commission and as a member of the American Law Institute. Furthermore, she has been recognized as a fellow of both the Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. Additionally, she holds memberships in various legal organizations and has received accolades such as the Texas Women Lawyers Pathfinder Award and the Child Protection Law Section Founder’s Award. Justice Lehrmann frequently shares her expertise at continuing legal education events across the state and country, covering a wide range of topics.
Most recently, Justice Lehrmann was re-elected in November 2022 for a term that will conclude on December 31, 2028.
