Darla Jackson joined the OU Law Library in 2018 as its Research and Electronic Resources Librarian. Prior to joining the College of Law, she worked as part of the Management Assistance Program (MAP) staff at the Oklahoma Bar Association. In that role she assisted attorneys in improving the management of their practices, often through the use of technology. She began her focus on technology while serving as a judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force and has continued to explore ways technology can positively influence legal services.
She is a member of the ABA’s Section of Legal Education & Admissions to the Bar and the Law Practice Division. She serves as Vice Chair of the Oklahoma Bar Association Access to Justice Committee and Member Services Committee. She is also a member of the OBA’s Law Office Management & Technology, Military & Veterans Law, and Indian Law Sections. She is the current Vice-Chair of the Computing Services Interest Section of the American Assoc. of Law Libraries.
She has authored publications and served as a contributor for Thinking About Technology, a recurring column in Law Library Journal. She has also written articles for the Oklahoma Bar Journal, including Can Lawyers Be Luddites?
She earned a J.D. and Masters of Information Studies from the Univ. of Oklahoma, an LL.M. in Int’l Law from the Univ. of Georgia and a Master of Mil. Operations from Air Univ. She is currently enrolled in the Univ. of Oklahoma’s LL.M. Program in Indigenous Peoples Law.
