Michelle Rick is a judge for the 29th Circuit Court in Michigan. She was appointed to this position by Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm on April 21, 2007, to replace former Judge Jeffrey Martlew. She was elected in 2008 and was re-elected in 2010 and 2016. Her professional affiliations include Michigan Judges Association (executive committee), Community Corrections, Governor’s Human Trafficking Commission, National Association of Women Judges.
Judge Rick received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1987 and her law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1991. She worked as an assistant Livingston County prosecutor prior to becoming a senior assistant attorney general in 1995. She worked in that position until 2006 and then served as deputy legal counsel for Governor Granholm until her circuit court appointment in 2007. She has also taught at Lansing Community College and Michigan State University.
