Professor Matt Crockett is an assistant professor of law at the UNT Dallas College of Law, teaching contracts, commercial law, and other business courses. Professor Crockett graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of New Orleans in 2004, where he played baseball, and he graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. from California Western School of Law in 2007. In law school, Professor Crockett served on the law review and as a judicial extern for Federal Judge Roger Benitez in San Diego and for Federal Judge Jerry Buchmeyer in Dallas. A career highlight, says Professor Crockett, was making partner in the finance group at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP. Following graduation, Professor Crockett joined the banking and structured finance group of Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, where he has represented banks, as well as corporate and private equity clients, in financial transactions, especially in the areas of real estate lending, acquisition financing, asset-based lending, oil and gas, aircraft lending, factoring, foreclosures, and workouts. Professor Crockett has also spoken on various aspects of finance, including the emerging fields of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. Professor Crockett has written and published textbooks and course materials for Contracts, Commercial Law, and Transactional and Business Topics, as well as a treatise, Crockett’s Texas Finance Code, Title 4, Annotated. The textbooks and treatise are available on Amazon.com. Professor Crockett has also published law review articles with South Texas College of Law’s Law Review and the Houston Business & Tax Law Journal, and is looking forward to the upcoming publication of an article with the Uniform Commercial Code Law Journal.
