Patrick Arenz

Patrick Arenz is a trial lawyer with Robins Kaplan who litigates and tries high-stakes cases, including cases involving patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and other commercial disputes. Mr. Arenz’s clients are as diverse as his practice, ranging from small inventor-led companies to Fortune 100 companies. With respect to patent enforcement, Mr. Arenz has helped three separate inventor-led clients each achieve licensing revenue well in excess of eight figures. Mr. Arenz has also litigated cases on both sides of the “v” in significant competitor-versus-competitor patent disputes. He is currently representing an LLC against a Fortune 500 company for breach of contract and misappropriation of trade secrets in federal court. Mr. Arenz was trial counsel in various courtrooms across the country, including federal district courts in the Eastern District of Texas, the Northern District of California, and the District of Minnesota. By virtue of this trial experience, along with his intimate understanding of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence, Mr. Arenz hones in on the most important issues and disputes during fact and expert discovery. Over the course of his career, Mr. Arenz has tried various cases on a pro bono basis, including jury and bench trials on matters such as felony criminal defense, a contested claim for political asylum, and most recently the defense of a mother in a Hague Convention case that was tried in United States District Court. He now chairs the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, and seeks to continue the firm’s longstanding commitment to rewrite the odds for those who otherwise cannot afford representation. Since 2008, for instance, the firm has contributed over 7% of our total attorney billable time to pro bono work.
