Carly N. Mee, Esq. is the Interim Executive Director at SurvJustice. She is an attorney who provides direct assistance to survivors in campus, civil, and criminal systems. Her writing has been featured in The Washington Post and she has provided legal commentary in CNN, the Independent, Buzzfeed, NPR, and various other media outlets.
Mee received her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2016, where she graduated cum laude and received the Law School Pro Bono Award. During law school, Mee served as the Research Editor for the George Mason Law Review, served as a Board Member of the Virginia Bar Association Pro Bono Society, received the Virginia Bar Association Pro Bono Excellence Award for dedicating the most pro bono hours as a first-year law student, and was awarded the 2015 School of Law Public Service Student Scholarship for her demonstrated commitment to public service work. She also volunteered with organizations providing legal services to low-income individuals, including the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project and Legal Services of Northern Virginia. While in law school, Mee also worked as a law clerk for a D.C.-based employment discrimination firm and held legal internships with the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth, and SurvJustice.
