Chuki Obiyo is the managing director of business development at Vedder Price. He has practiced the art and science of business development for over 15 years, previously helping to lead successful sales programs at LinkedIn Corporation, Wolters Kluwer, and CEB. Chuki grew up in a village in Africa where people live on less than $1 a day. His parents worked very hard to send him to America to get a good education. In turn, he worked very hard and became a lawyer at Northwestern University School of Law. During law school, he discovered that the biggest threat to the legal profession is business development–lawyers rely on networking but recoil at selling. Now, he uses his many years of experience to help lawyers learn to leverage personal development, business development, and management consulting to sell better.
