Leslie Overton

Leslie Overton is partner at Alston & Bird LLP whose practice encompasses comprehensive antitrust services, including counseling, agency representation and litigation. She previously held senior leadership roles in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division in two separate presidential administrations, including her recent tenure as deputy assistant attorney general for civil enforcement.

Leslie focuses on representing clients before government competition authorities, including clients facing civil and criminal conduct investigations, as well as other impacted parties. With litigation experience in government and as a former partner with a multinational law firm, she has the skills and judgment to advocate effectively for clients in court and administrative proceedings.

Leslie supervised more than half of the merger challenges by the DOJ for fiscal years 2012–2014, including litigation complaints, consent decrees and transactions restructured or abandoned. She was also responsible for supervising the Antitrust Division’s international policy and engagement, as well as leading the division’s health care antitrust policy. She previously served as counsel to the assistant attorney general in the division and played a key role in the landmark hearings and report on antitrust enforcement in the healthcare industry issued by the DOJ and Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
