Dan Slepian is a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Emmy winning investigative journalist at NBC News whose reporting has helped solve cold cases, exonerate the innocent, and spark legal reform. He conceived and produced NBC’s landmark 2018 Justice for All series, which included the first nationally televised town hall from inside a maximum-security prison at Sing Sing.
Most recently, Slepian wrote and produced the investigative podcast The Last Appeal with Lester Holt, uncovering new information in the case of Robert Roberson, a man on Texas’s death row whose conviction is tied to the controversial diagnosis of Shaken Baby Syndrome. Just three hours after the final episode dropped on October 12, 2025, Roberson was granted a stay of execution.
Slepian is also the author of The Sing Sing Files and recently won the Emmy for Best Documentary for The Sing Sing Chronicles, chronicling his 20-year fight to free six innocent men.
