Kandis Gibson

Kandis Gibson is a Senior Associate at the Washington, D.C. law firm Foster, Murphy, Altman & Nickel, PC. Ms. Gibson focuses her practice on Section 337 proceedings at the U.S. International Trade Commission involving unfair trade practices, including patent, trademark and copyright infringement, and misappropriation of trade secrets. She has participated in some 30 Section 337 investigations. She also has experience in complex civil litigation matters and has handled matters before U.S. District Courts and U.S. Agencies, including representing clients in enforcements issues related to Section 337 exclusion orders before the United States Customs

and Border Protection (CBP).  She also advises clients generally on border protection of intellectual property rights.

The Foster Murphy Altman & Nickel firm has a long history of litigation under Section 337, border enforcement of intellectual property rights, and matters before the CBP.  The firm has participated in more than 175 Section 337 investigations. Those investigations included allegations of direct copying or counterfeiting of products such as food waste disposers,

protective cases, ink cartridges, ink markers, agricultural tractors, purple protective gloves, safety eyewear, cigarettes, toothbrushes, electric power tools, personal computers, and cube puzzles.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Gibson worked as a law clerk with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security handling border security and border technology issues.

Ms. Gibson is a graduate of Cornell University and Howard University School of Law. She is an active Cornell University alumna and serves as a member of the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network. Ms. Gibson is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Trade Commission’s Trial Lawyers Association, the Womens Bar Association of DC, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the National Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.
